ABOUT THE SONG

"My Ending" began as an intimate bedroom-pop track—just me, a microphone, and some minimal synth layers. It was meant to be raw and personal, but as I continued to work on it, the song started to take on a much larger scope.

That’s when I brought in my friend, Adam Conrad, who helped create a sweeping string arrangement. The collaboration took the song to a whole new level.

The turning point came when we got the Budapest String Orchestra involved...

It was surreal to hear these beautifully complex, lush strings transform the track from its humble beginnings into this huge, cinematic experience.

Their live performance added layers of depth that took the song’s production to another world entirely, bringing in this sweeping, orchestral vibe that contrasts with the song’s emotional vulnerability.

Musically, the song grew into something bigger than I had ever imagined, reflecting the emotional weight of realizing a relationship was not the “end game” I thought it would be...

That orchestral arrangement gave the song a sense of finality and grandeur, amplifying the heartbreak and providing a rich, sonic backdrop that helped tell the story.

Demo // Foundation // Rough Mix

Demo Version - First Point When the Song Started to Come Together! (definitely a rough cut)
Foundation Mix - The first full arrangement, before live drums complete the track!
Rough Mix - This is the mix I did with all the parts in place before being sent off to Ben - the mixing engineer for the record!

Behind the Lyrics

I wrote these lyrics at a time when all my future plans with someone just completely unraveled...

That feeling when you think they’re your endgame, only for it to all slip away—it's brutal.

The line "You were gonna be my ending, end game" captures that heartbreak of putting everything into one person, only to see it disappear...

The verses are full of confusion and those lingering ‘what ifs,’ until that final, gut-punch moment where you realize—there’s no going back.

I wanted the orchestration to really drive that feeling home, layering in dramatic tension and giving the song this cinematic, emotional finale you don’t expect.

My Ending

Well I was in the backseat
Wake up
See his hand up on you
Holding my head
'Cause I'm always gonna be alone
Like now I'm alone

Caught up believing
Every second
Thinking that you got me
Trust you every time
You were someone that I knew as known
Well now I'm on my own

You were gonna be my ending
End game
I was gonna be your ending
Last frame
And that was never gonna change
But things always seem to change

And I remember wishing
That you'd wake up
And call me from his bathroom
'Cause you got to thinking
That with him you'd always be unknown
Kept waiting by my phone

And when that ground
Dropped out
Well you came right back a-running
Begging for that moment
When we'd have a chance to be alone
'Cause now you're alone

You were gonna be my ending
End game
I was gonna be your ending
Last frame
And now I'll get to know
No we'll never get to know
So I'm done extending this
End game
We were clearly not the intending
The same
And now you'll never get to know
No you'll never get to know
Oh
Oh
End oh
Oh
End, you'll never get to know
End, I'll never get to know
So we'll never get to know
Yea we'll never get to know

Live Recording Sessions

Recording with the Budapest String Orchestra - Budapest, Hungary

Collaborating with my friend Adam Conrad, we brought the string arrangement for this song to life. Hearing the Budapest String Orchestra perform and record it live over Zoom was surreal...
an incredible moment watching our vision take shape across the world!
